Overview
RFID shoelace tags provide a cost effective method of identifying and timing runners during long distance events. The tag has an adhesive strip on the underside of one end allowing it to be stuck to the other end making a loop.
For effective timing and identification of athletes it is VERY important to ensure the below points:
- Feed the shoe tag through a shoelace and secure it into a ring (See instructions). Do not keep in pockets or attach to any other parts of body.
- DO NOT fold the shoe tag. It should be made into a ring (See instructions).
- Once you have secured the shoetag, position it such that the logo and number are facing up
- Failure to follow these instructions will result in missed athlete identification in the race.
Instructions to secure shoe tags
- Place the Shoe Tag under your bottom shoe lace with the blank side facing up
- Unpeel the adhesive backing
- Form a loop with the tag being careful not to create a fold
- Slowly and neatly stick the adhesive side against the opposite end to secure the tag.
- Now that your Shoe Tag is secured, gently turn it such that the logo and numbers are facing up
DO NOT Fold or flatten the tag such as below
After athletes have completed the race
At the end of the race athletes should move through the finish line antennas then continue moving at least 20m away from the finish line. Volunteers should then remove the shoe tag using scissors and dispose of them ensuring that they do not come back in range of the finish line.
